Pattern / Technical Design Department Manager
Location: Dallas, TX (On-Site)
Position Overview
The Pattern/Technical Design Department Manager leads all aspects of pattern creation, development, and grading to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all product lines. This role collaborates closely with the Manufacturing and Quality Control departments to resolve construction, cutting, and sewing issues, while maintaining high fit and production standards. The manager will oversee teams in patternmaking, grading, technical design, and sample sewing, as well as manage marker making and all related Gerber/Lectra software systems. This position is responsible for the complete lifecycle of made-to-order patterns—from initial design concept through to mass production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee the pattern lifecycle from initial design concept to final production.
· Collaborate with the Design Team to interpret sketches and specifications, ensuring design integrity, fit standards, and brand consistency across all sizes.
· Lead and manage the fit process, translating feedback into precise pattern adjustments to meet aesthetic and technical standards.
· Coordinate with grading teams to ensure consistent sizing and proportion across all styles.
· Serve as the primary liaison for Gerber/Lectra software, managing system updates, troubleshooting, and coordination with internal IT and software vendors.
· Maintain and organize digital pattern libraries and the Pattern Management Flow system.
· Oversee the maintenance and inventory of physical sew guides and sample garments.
· Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality Control to ensure seamless communication and production accuracy.
· Ensure all Garment Sheets are accurate and current, including construction details, AccuMark data, and technical drawings.
· Manage Fit Kits quality control—verify and document specifications, measurements, and sewing standards.
· Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to team members in patternmaking, grading, and technical design.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Design, Technical Design, Product Development, or equivalent professional experience required.
· 5–10 years of industry experience in patternmaking, technical design, or apparel development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
· Proficient in Gerber AccuMark (or equivalent CAD pattern software); ability to create and modify digital patterns from scratch or existing blocks.
· Understanding of grading principles and fit across multiple size ranges.
· Excellent communication and documentation skills—both written and verbal.
· Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and time management abilities within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
