| A Cheerleading Company started on Family Traditions |

James G. Hazlewood has created a company built on the family traditions of the cheerleading industry: leadership, quality and service. In 1966, Lawrence R. "Herkie" Herkimer asked his brother-in-law, Jim Hazlewood, to join the cheerleading industry as general manager and partner of the original Cheerleader Supply Company. Herkie, world-renowned as the "founding father of modern cheerleading" fulfilled the true American dream by creating a new industry "the world of cheerleading"! In the beginning, Jim introduced new methods to automate key areas of the business. With Herkimer's copyright on the cheerleader pom pon, Jim engineered a pom pon machine that slit crepe paper into streamers. Next, Jim developed an apparel facility that expanded to 100,000 square feet solely to manufacture custom-made team uniforms. From acquiring knitting machines for striping, sweaters and custom logoed socks to computerized chenille and embroidery machines, Jim was always on the cutting edge of delivering quality products and services to this rapidly growing industry. As customers' needs increased so did Jim's commitment to service. He produced and distributed over 300,000 mail order catalogs annually and built a national sales group of over 150 field representatives to personally service each customer. One of Jim's favorite trademarks is, "our company will always take care of its customers first!" Today, that same tradition of satisfying customers continues to be a strong foundation of Cheerleading Company.
